Rustic Trunk Coffee Table

A refreshed look to suit a cosy, modern lounge

Our lovely client asked us to give their much-loved trunk coffee table a bit of a makeover – something to tidy it up and help it blend in with the rest of their lounge furniture and décor. Over the years, the trunk had picked up quite a few scratches, especially across the top, so it needed some proper attention.

We started by stripping back the old varnish from the surface, then sanded it right down to achieve a smooth, clean finish. Once prepped, we applied a rich dark wax to bring out the grain and give the top a warm, restored look.

The sides were painted using Vintage with Grace’s Grandma’s Pearls – a soft, classic shade that really complements the darker top. We also refinished all the metal handles and hinges in a smart black metallic paint, which tied everything together beautifully.

The final result is a stylish, refreshed coffee table that fits perfectly in its new space – and best of all, our client was absolutely over the moon with the transformation.
