Rustic Industrial Kitchen Island / Breakfast Bar / Workbench

This solid and characterful rustic bench began its life in an old farm workshop, where we discovered it just before the farmer sold up. Hidden beneath years of use was a true gem—once we removed the original vice and got to work, it revealed all the potential we knew it had.

After a thorough clean, the wooden surface was carefully sanded and restored, bringing out the natural grain and aged beauty of the top. We added multiple coats of dark wax to enhance its richness and ensure long-lasting protection. To add function and even more charm, we built a bottom shelf from reclaimed scaffolding boards, cleaned, sanded, and finished with wax for a warm, timeworn look.

The original legs and supports were treated with white wax layered with dark wax, creating a beautifully aged contrast that complements the rustic-industrial aesthetic. With its substantial weight and solid build, this piece is incredibly sturdy and versatile—perfect as a kitchen island, breakfast bar, console table, or even a freestanding workbench.
