This fabulously funky mid-century kitchen unit is a rare gem, full of retro charm and rustic character. We discovered it at a restoration fair, and despite being over 60 years old, it had kept most of its original features intact—a testament to the quality of its design and build.
While the overall condition was good, the base needed some attention due to age-related wear. After replacing the bottom panel, we gave the piece a deep clean using our tried-and-tested white spirit and vinegar solution. Once prepped, it was hand-painted in a bold and cheerful combination of ‘Carousel’ red and ‘Belgium Lace’ white, both from the Vintage with Grace Mineral Paint range. To ensure durability for everyday use, we applied multiple coats of Polyvine Finishing Coat, giving it a hard-wearing, long-lasting finish.
With its bright colours, clean lines, and original mid-century detailing, this unit makes a brilliant standalone statement piece—perfect for adding character to any kitchen, utility room, or creative space.
We were thrilled to personally deliver this unique piece to a lovely customer in Tattenhall, where it’s now enjoying a brand-new chapter in a stylish modern home.
