This stunning Edwardian washstand is a true vintage gem, brimming with original character and charm. We rescued it from a neglected barn, where it had been gathering dust and cobwebs, and brought it back to life with plenty of care and a little Shed on the Left magic.
To give it a fresh, contemporary feel while respecting its vintage roots, we used Vintage with Grace paint—a combination of ‘Vanguard’ grey and a bespoke mix created to complement the original tiles. The hand-finished paintwork has a subtle shabby chic effect for a gently worn, authentic look, and it’s all sealed with Polyvine decorators varnish for durability and protection.
The washstand boasts a solid grey and white marble top, beautifully contrasted with its soft paint tones, and is framed by curvaceous Edwardian woodwork. The standout feature? Its original pearlescent floral tiles—still in fantastic condition and full of charm. With two drawers, a central cupboard, two open shelves, and a lovely ornate top shelf, there’s ample storage space, making this piece as functional as it is beautiful.
Whether used in a bathroom, hallway, or as a freestanding kitchen unit, this washstand is versatile, unique, and full of history. Delivered personally to its new home in St Ives, Cornwall, it’s a piece that turns heads wherever it goes.
