Cholmondeley Arms

The Cholmondeley Arms is one of Cheshire’s most distinctive pubs – a converted schoolhouse full of character, atmosphere and charm. It’s a place that welcomes a steady stream of visitors year-round, which means the furniture is always in use and needs to be kept strong, comfortable, and looking the part.

What We Did

Since working with the team at the Cholmondeley Arms, we’ve:

  • Repaired around 30 chairs and stools, many of which were showing their age after years of daily use. Wobbly legs, loose joints, and worn spindles were all carefully fixed to bring them back to life.
  • Carried out table repairs on site – because of their size and weight, these couldn’t be transported to our workshop. Working directly in the pub meant we could minimise disruption and get the tables back into service quickly.

The Challenge

With furniture like this, it’s not just about function. The pub’s character depends on a mix of vintage and antique pieces that fit perfectly with its unique setting. Our job was to repair and restore in a way that kept everything looking authentic, while ensuring the strength and durability needed in such a busy hospitality setting.

The Result

The restored chairs and tables are now back in use, sturdy and refreshed, ready to serve another generation of visitors. By repairing rather than replacing, we’ve helped the Cholmondeley Arms keep its distinctive style while extending the life of its furniture – and avoided unnecessary waste in the process.
