We had a brilliant brief from our lovely customer Mr T in Lytham St Anne’s – he wanted six mismatched, multi-coloured painted chairs that would work perfectly with a gorgeous painting he’d got hanging in his dining room.

Mr T was after something a bit different – dining chairs that weren’t just functional but would really make a statement and tie in beautifully with his existing artwork. He wanted something with personality that would make his dining room feel special and reflect his own style.
We found six lovely old chairs that were perfect for the job and gave each one a completely different look using top-quality British mineral paints. For the two chairs at the head of the table, we used Rodmel (a gorgeous purple) from Annie Sloan. The four side chairs got the full rainbow treatment with Miss Minton (bright yellow), Surfer (lovely turquoise), Firefly (zingy orange), and Carousel (bold red) – all from Vintage with Grace.
We followed our usual process – gave each chair a proper sand down and clean, then applied one coat of primer and undercoat. After that, three coats of colour to get that lovely rich finish, and finally two coats of clear, hard-wearing varnish to make sure they’ll last for years.
Mr T was absolutely chuffed with how they turned out! The combination of the vibrant chairs and his beautiful painting looks absolutely fantastic together. It’s transformed his dining room into somewhere really special, and we’ve saved six more pieces of furniture from ending up in landfill.
